Storetasker Payouts: Timing & Withdrawals
This article explains how to set up payouts and how the Storetasker payout process works, including when you receive funds after a project is completed and how quickly you can withdraw them.
Payout Timing
How soon do I get paid after a bill or retainer is completed?
For bills and retainers, money is released into your Storetasker Wallet as soon as payment is received from the client.
How soon do I get paid after an escrow project is completed?
For Projects, Storetasker uses an escrow system to protect both Experts and clients.
-
The client funds the project and the money is held in escrow.
-
Once the work is completed, the client approves the project.
-
When the project is approved, the funds are released from escrow into your Storetasker Wallet.
If the client does not manually approve the project, the funds will automatically release after the completion window (3 business days.)
Once funds are released from escrow, they appear in your Wallet balance and are available for withdrawal.
How soon can I transfer funds from my Wallet to PayPal?
As soon as funds appear in your Storetasker Wallet, they are available to withdraw immediately.
You can initiate a transfer to your connected payout method (such as PayPal or a bank account) directly from the Wallet.
After you request the withdrawal, the time it takes for funds to appear in PayPal depends on PayPal’s processing time. This can take up to 5 business days, but is usually quicker.
Payments Setup
What steps are required to set up payments?
Payment setup is a three-step process:
-
Add a payout method.
- Verify your identity
-
Complete the required tax form (W-9, W-8BEN, or W-8BEN-E).
Once these steps are complete, you will be able to receive payouts.
Additional requirement (EU & Australia):
Some members may need to complete an extra tax form. If required, instructions will be sent by email.
How do I access the payment setup page?
-
Go to your dashboard.
-
Select your name in the bottom-left corner.
-
Choose Payments.
-
In the top right, select Settings.
Your login email will auto-populate. Do not change this email address. If you change it, you may be unable to log into your account.
How do I add a payout method?
When prompted, confirm your mailing address, then choose one of the following:
-
Bank account (preferred)
-
PayPal account
Important:
-
If you are registered as an individual, the payout account must be in your name.
-
If you are registered as a business, the payout account must be in the business’s name.
Payout Currency
Experts are paid in the currency of their local, domiciled bank account.
Example:
If you live in Germany, you will be paid in Euros.
Exception:
Canadian experts may set up a Canadian-domiciled account in CAD or USD.
If you would prefer to receive USD payouts outside of the U.S., there are two common options:
-
Use a USD account domiciled in the United States (many experts use services such as Wise).
-
Use PayPal as your payout method.
Virtual Bank Accounts
Storetasker does not officially support virtual bank accounts, but many experts successfully use services such as Wise or Payoneer.
Typical setup process:
-
Open your Wise or Payoneer account.
-
Update your payout mailing address to the U.S. address associated with your virtual account.
-
Add your U.S.-based virtual bank account.
-
Revert your mailing address back to your real address.
If you experience issues with this process, contact Wise or Payoneer support directly.
Troubleshooting Payment Setup
I’m having trouble entering my account or verification number
If your account or verification number contains hyphens or spaces, remove them and re-enter the number.
Are there transfer fees?
Yes. Transfer fees vary depending on the payout method selected.
Any applicable fees will be shown during setup.
Tax Forms
Why do I need to complete a tax form?
Storetasker is required by the IRS to collect tax forms from all freelancers.
Storetasker does not withhold taxes, but the forms must be on file before payouts can be processed.
U.S. freelancers (W-9)
If you earn over $600 in a year, you will receive a 1099-NEC in January.
Non-U.S. freelancers (W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E)
Non-U.S. freelancers must provide a local Tax Identification Number (TIN).
Forms may be rejected if a TIN is not provided.
Which tax form should I complete?
-
W-9 — U.S. citizens or foreign nationals living in the U.S.
-
W-8BEN — Non-U.S. individuals
-
W-8BEN-E — Non-U.S. corporations
Approval Timeline
Payment accounts are typically reviewed and approved within 1–2 business days.
Processing may be delayed during U.S. national holidays.
Once approved, you can begin requesting payouts from your Wallet.
