New Expert Onboarding Guide

Everything you need to know to get set up, receive leads, stay compliant, and succeed on Storetasker.


📁 Account Activation & Setup

When is my account live?

Your account becomes active when:

  1. You sign the expert terms

  2. You receive your Slack invite & welcome email

Once complete, you can expect leads—often the same day.

How do I complete my profile setup?

From your dashboard, update:

  • Skills & tools

  • Hourly rate

  • Past Shopify client projects (up to 10)

  • Business problems (choose 1–3 niches)

Note: Profile bio and photo must be updated by Storetasker support.

How do I ensure I get lead alerts?

Go to Dashboard → Settings → Notifications and set:

  • Skills: Email or SMS

  • Tools: Email or SMS

  • Optional: Slack alerts

If notifications are set to “Dashboard Only,” you will not receive alerts.


📅 Calendar & Calls

Why connect my calendar?

Experts with a calendar integration close 2–3× more projects.

How do I set it up?

Dashboard → Calendar → Connect Google Calendar
This auto-creates a booking link clients can click to schedule calls.

Pro tip: Use one recurring Google Meet link for all intro calls.


💸 Payments & Tax Forms

How do I get paid?

Clients pay Storetasker → Storetasker sends your payout.
You can receive payouts in USD or supported local currencies.

Supported methods include:

  • Direct bank transfer

  • ACH

  • PayPal

  • Bill.com

  • Wise / Payoneer (for international members)

  • Check (where applicable)

What tax form do I need?

Location Form
US W-9
Outside US W-8BEN (individual) / W-8BEN-E (company)

Forms are submitted in your dashboard during payout setup.

Can I switch payout accounts or currencies later?

Yes — you can update payout settings any time.


💼 Lead System & Close Rate

How many leads will I get?

New experts typically receive ~3 intros per week, increasing up to 10/week as you close projects and receive strong client feedback.

What affects lead volume?

  • Close rate (target ~50%)

  • Response speed

  • Completed projects + client ratings

  • Profile strength (past clients + skills + business niches)

  • Calendar connection

What if a lead is not a fit?

You may skip leads with no penalty.
We only measure results after you accept introductions. Clients who are unresponsive do not factor into your success.


Platform Rules & Best Practices

Can I bill clients directly?

No. All billing must be through Storetasker.
Off-platform billing is a violation and will result in removal.

Can I share personal contact info?

Yes for work tools only (Shopify Partner account, GitHub, etc.).
Personal email/phone should stay private.

Can I use subcontractors?

Yes, if you've told us about other members of your agency, but all work and billing must remain on-platform, and you are responsible for quality and delivery.

Can I communicate with clients outside the platform?

Yes — Zoom, Slack, Google Meet, email are allowed.
Payments must stay on the platform.


Referrals

How does the referral bonus work?

  • Earn $2,000 per approved expert you refer

  • Must submit referral before they apply

  • Payment issued once they join and complete minimum activity thresholds

🔔 Communication & Support

Where do I ask questions?

  • HQ Slack channel — for platform questions and community discussions

  • Support — for account issues, billing, tech help

Who should I contact for onboarding questions?

Use Slack or Support channels—response times vary based on nature of request.


🔒 Background Checks (EU/UK)

Experts in some regions may require identity verification or background screening per local regulations. Instructions are sent directly when applicable.
