Managing Services
This article explains how to create, edit, share, and delete pre-fabricated (“pre-fab”) services in your Storetasker dashboard. Services allow you to package and present specific offerings to clients and potential leads.
1. What Are Pre-Fab Services?
Pre-fab services are pre-defined offerings you can display on your profile or share directly with clients. They make it easier to sell common project types, reduce back-and-forth, and give clients clarity upfront.
Services can be used for both one-off projects and ongoing engagements, as long as they are set up correctly.
2. How Do I Create a Service?
To create a new service:
-
Go to Dashboard → Settings (select your name in the bottom-left on desktop, or your profile icon in the top-right on mobile).
-
Navigate to Services and click Create.
-
Fill out the service details:
Title
Use a clear, descriptive title.
Description
Write a full description. Follow the same best practices as writing a strong quote, and clearly explain scope, expectations, and next steps.
Pricing Options
-
Price
Fixed-price project. The client pays upfront, and funds are placed in escrow immediately. -
Starting At
No payment is collected upfront. The service acts like a brief, and you will need to send a formal quote to the client before any payment is made.
✅ There is no limit to how many services you can create.
✅ Once saved, the service automatically updates on your profile.
3. Using Services for Retainers and Ongoing Work
Storetasker does not currently support automatic monthly recurring payments through services. If you are offering a retainer or ongoing engagement, you should use the “Starting At” pricing option.
Why this matters:
-
A Starting At service functions like a brief. When a client selects it, you receive a notification and then send a custom quote outlining the retainer terms and monthly amount.
-
A Price service functions like an escrow project. The client pays immediately, which is typically not appropriate for retainers that require discussion and agreement first.
Best practices for retainers:
-
Set the service to Starting At, not Price.
-
Clearly state in the description that the service is a retainer.
-
Outline what is included, billing cadence, communication expectations, and how changes to scope are handled.
This approach ensures the client understands the structure and allows you to send the correct retainer quote before any funds are collected.
4. How Do I Share My Services?
Each service tile in your dashboard has a Copy Link option.
You can share this link directly with:
-
Current clients
-
Prospective leads
-
Facebook groups, social media, or portfolio sites
When a client clicks the link, they are taken to the service description in the customer app.
Note: All services you create are also visible on your public profile page.
5. How Do I Edit a Service?
-
Select Edit below the service tile.
-
Update any details such as title, description, or pricing.
-
Save your changes. The service will update immediately.
6. How Do I Delete a Service?
Select Delete below the service tile.
Important: Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
