Making $150,000 Per Year
How to convert more clients, sell larger projects, and build long term relationships on Storetasker
After 5 years and 30,000+ projects, we've learned what works (and what doesn't). Take this to heart, practice, and we are confident that you will see some incredible results.
When we look at the top performers - people making $15k+ per month just on Storetasker - this is what they are doing. It works.
Phone call up front
When experts do this, we consistently see: larger quotes, much higher close rate, and longer term clients. A quick phone call up front does more than you might think:
It quickly creates a personal connection and builds trust.
- Suddenly you are no longer a stranger they just met on the internet. You connect as people, chat about your dog, their city, and build a connection that would take weeks over just email and text.
It allows you to better solve the problem behind the project request.
- Brands come to us with a specific project in mind. Sometimes that's all they want, but more than you might think they have a bunch of needs and don't know exactly what should be done.
- For example: "I want to change the CTA text" might really mean "I want help increasing the conversion rate of the product page" and a phone call allows you to quickly understand the problem behind the project.
It allows you to ask about their roadmap.
- No e-commerce brand has one project. The project they request is one in an endless string of things that need to get done to grow the business.
- On a call, you can easily say "If you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to know how this fits into your roadmap / goals for the quarter"
- That list is literally the next 3-10 projects with the client, and makes it so easy to follow up after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, successful project.
Price Bracketing
When experts do this, we consistently see: larger quotes and a higher close rate.
When quoting the project, give a big range with round numbers.
- For example: "it was great learning about the brand and this project. After thinking it through, this will be in the $2k - $3.5k range."
- This gives you flexibility and quickly establishes the ballpark before working on a detailed quote.
Be their partner, not their tasker
When experts do this, we consistently see: larger quotes and longer term relationships.
This is more subtle, but the goal is to go above and beyond, anticipate needs, provide valuable info/advice and become their partner vs their one-time tasker. Here's what I mean:
-
Tasker: does exactly what is asked and no more. Communication is fairly transactional. The project finishes, the customer is happy with the work done, but no real relationship was created. Tasking is short term thinking.
-
Partner: quickly treats the client's brand like their own. Goes above and beyond, and tries to build a personal relationship with each client. Partnering is long term thinking.
Project Closing
When experts do this, we consistently see: more repeat work and longer term client relationships.
After your first project with a client is approved, send a project closing email that tees up the next projects. The outline:
- Thank you + it was great working with you
- I love your brand + am excited about what what you're building / working on.
- Let me know if you want to chat about X, Y, Z on you roadmap.
- How to contact me at any time in the future.
